    Eastern Connecticut State University Admissions

Eastern Connecticut State University has an open undergraduate admissions deadline. The application fee is $50. Applications can be submitted on-line. Students who are enrolled in high school at the time of application will need to have their official final high school transcripts sent after graduation to the Admissions Office.

As part of their application, students should submit high school transcripts, two letters of recommendation, and ACT or SAT test scores. A personal essay is optional. Students should have completed a college preparatory curriculum in high school, have a class rank in the upper 50%, and have “acceptable” test scores. Some students may also have an interview.

Transfer students and international students will have varying requirements depending upon their prior educational background.

Students applying to the graduate programs at Eastern Connecticut State University should consult the individual department and/or school to which they are applying. Applications can be submitted on-line, and the application fee is $40. General requirements include two letters of recommendation, a personal statement, and a bachelor’s degree. The graduate application deadline is July 6 for the fall semester.

ECSU considers its admissions policy competitive, but does not provide a strict code of requirements for applicants to meet. Instead, the Admissions Committee considers numerous factors when reviewing applicants’ information. As a general rule, applicants who ranked in the top half of their graduating class, produced acceptable scores on the SAT, and demonstrate an acceptable high school grade point average are accepted for admission. Applicants with a high grade point average and strong letters of recommendation are considered priority candidates. Demonstrated academic success is perhaps the most important quality to gaining admission to ECSU. Interviews are not required but sometimes requested. All applicants must submit an admission application, high school transcript, a $50 non-refundable fee, and SAT or ACT scores. Applicants may choose to submit an essay of 500 words describing why they chose ECSU and how they feel they could contribute, highlighting previous achievements and their plans for the future. As mentioned above, this essay is often a deciding factor for many ECSU applicant and is the applicant’s opportunity to describe, in their own words, exactly how they are qualified to enter the University. Students may choose to submit their application for admission online, via the Admissions website. However, the admissions application form must also be printed, signed, and mailed to the University accompanied by the applicant’s $50 application fee.
